Brushing the teeth is useless when the technique used is wrong. The proper technique starts with placing the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle against the gums; gently move the brush back and forth. Make sure you brush the outer, inner and chewing surfaces of the teeth. Do not forget to brush your tongue as well.
- Use floss.
When flossing, break around 18-inches of floss. Be gentle to your teeth when you floss as you don’t want to wound your gums. Remember that flossing should only be done to one tooth at a time and not altogether.
- Keep it clean.
Not only should you keep your mouth clean, you should also maintain cleanliness when it comes to your equipment. Make sure you have a clean tooth brush holder and avoid keeping toothbrushes in closed containers as this may encourage bacteria and mold. Moreover, replace your toothbrush regularly or when needed.
- Use the right products.
It’s also important for you to use the correct equipment for your teeth. Basically, a soft-bristled brush is encouraged. A fluoride-based toothpaste is also a great help in preventing cavities.
- Visit your dentist.
Even when you feel as if your teeth is super clean; it’s important that you still take a trip to your dentist’s office every once in awhile for routine check-ups.
